A 60 year friendship

Created by anthony 3 years ago

I first met Audrey in 1960 at an 18-30 club  for young single people in Barnet , N London,  where I was in my first job as an Orthoptist  in the NHS and Audrey, a local resident also  worked for the NHS as a hospital secretary. We therefore had something in common from the start. After Audrey's marriage to Mark I moved to Derby to further my career but shortly afterwards they moved to nearby Nottinghamshire when Mark became a works engineer at Players.  This enabled Audrey and I to meet occasionally and after my marriage more frequently. We both had daughters  too so our lives seemed to run in parallel.  My husband Tony and I enjoyed walking as did Audrey and Mark and we had many happy times with them at their cottage at Dolwyddelan in N Wales. I particularly remember the many ascents we made with them of Moel Siabod which we could climb directly from the cottage and the magnificent views we shared from the summit over Snowdonia.

We kept in touch over the years  - I remember Audrey as a good friend, always game for some activity and I shall miss her chat and companionship.
